Most relate to my name because of Tawny Kitaen from the White Snake video. I kid you not, a professor actually mentioned that one time while we were introducing ourselves. Quite funny actually.
Tawny is actually a color. They make lip sticks, nail polish, etc. It is an orange-brown or yellowish-brown.
There is also a Tawny Owl AKA Brown Owl commonly found in Eurasia (Europe and Asia). They are quite pretty I might say. :)

Also, there are Tawny Crazy Ants more popularly known as Rasberry Crazy Ants. They are mainly found in Houston, TX, but I recently found an article that said they were in FL. Unlike the owl, these things are UGLY!

There is also a Tawny Port. I did not know this until the other day actually. I was looking for some Reisling to make some fondue and I just got to looking around and BAM... there it was.
Tawny ports are wines, made from red grapes, that are aged in wooden barrels, exposing them to gradual oxidation and evaporation. As a result, they gradually mellow to a golden-brown colour. The exposure to oxygen imparts "nutty" flavours to the wine, which is blended to match the house style. It is usually used as a dessert wine, which I will have to remember next time! :)
And last but not least... back in the day... when I was a kid and played with puzzles. This was my favorite, only because it was called Tawny Scrawny Lion! I'm sure my mom still has it somewhere! :)
I hope I've educated you in some way today. :) Or at least gave you something interesting to read. :)
I like your name.
ReplyDeleteTammy would annoy me a lot though if I were you.
How do you get "Tammy" from "Tawny"?!
